When I started Techmedia Fusion I wanted to add something on the site that was going to be both fun and help me get a better sense of who is visiting my site. The reason for me wanting to know what type of people are visiting my site is quite simple, I want to deliver a service that makes viewers of Techmedia Fusion feel like I am trying to please them, because that is exactly what I am trying to do. With Techmedia Fusion being a tech site, the most important question was, what camp people belonged to i.e. Windows, Linux, Mac etc. For me personally, the most important thing is community and developing a community where tech enthusiasts of all ages feel welcome when they visit the site. I don’t want people to feel that if they are Windows users, they are going to be rebuked on the site, likewise I don’t want people to feel left out because I don’t cover tutorials or news on their preferred operating system or tech company.
Not long after joining YouTube, I wrote down a few tech questions and asked them on a video, kind of like a video survey and received a surprising amount of video responses all taking part in the survey and commenting on how much they enjoyed it. On that experience, I added a more comprehensive and up to date Tech Survey to Techmedia Fusion and have had a similar response. To be honest I’ve had so much more people complete the Survey than I ever anticipated, particularly in such a short period of time; 5 months.
Below I have added a simple chart outlining the number of people that have completed the survey and what their respective operating systems are. As you see I need to do a lot more work in attracting Linux users, Chrome OS users and BeOS users, whilst continuing to please the Windows and Mac users. I know it is impossible to please everyone all of the time, however I intend to make a good go of it. As far as I am concerned Techmedia Fusion and my YouTube Channel, have enabled me to meet some absolutely amazing people, something I simply never thought possible in this type of environment. This is why for me community is much more important than any financial gain I achieve from both sites. Of course there are many more questions on the survey aside from “What OS do you currently use” so if you haven’t already completed it, next time you have some spare time, why not give it a go. I will be updating the chart every now and then, perhaps charting out some of the other subject areas within the survey. Thank you all for you wonderful support.
